1And looking up to the heaven she espied a nest of sparrows in the laurel-tree, and made a lamentation within herself, saying: Woe unto me, who begat me? And what womb brought me forth, for I am become a curse before the children of Israel, and I am reproached, and they have mocked me forth out of the temple of the Lord?
Καὶ ἀτενίσασα εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν εἶδε καλιὰν στρουθίων ἐν τῇ δαφνηδαίᾳ, καὶ ἐποίησε θρῆνον ἐν ἑαυτῇ λέγουσα· οἴμοι, τίς με ἐγέννησεν; ποία δὲ μήτρα ἐξέφυσέ με; ὅτι κατάρα ἐγεννήθην ἐγὼ ἐμώπιον τῶν υἱῶν Ἰσραήλ, καὶ ὠνειδίσθην, καὶ ἐξεμυκτήρισάν με ἐκ ναοῦ κυρίου. (19947)
2Woe unto me, unto what am I likened? Iam not likened unto the fowls of the heaven, for even the fowls of the heaven are fruitful before thee, O Lord. Woe unto me, unto what am I likened? I am not likened unto the beasts of the earth, for even the beasts of the earth are fruitful before thee, O Lord. Woe unto me, unto what am I likened? I am not likened unto these waters, for even these waters are fruitful before thee, O Lord.
Οἴμοι, τίνι ὡμοιώθην ἐγώ; οὐχ ὡμοιώθην ἐγὼ τοῖς πετεινοῖς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, ὅτι καὶ τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ γόνιμά εἰσιν ἐνώπιόν σου, κύριε. οἴμοι, τίνι ὡμοιώθην ἐγώ; οὐχ ὡμοιώθην ἐγὼ τοῖς θηρίοις τῆς γῆς, ὅτι καὶ τὰ θηρία τῆς γῆς γόνιμά εἰσιν ἐνώπιόν σου, κύριε. (28558)
3Woe unto me, unto what am I likened? I am not likened unto this earth, for even this earth bringeth forth her fruits in due season and blesseth thee, O Lord.
Οἴμοι, τίνι ὡμοιώθην ἐγώ; οὐχ ὡμοιώθην ἐγὼ τοῖς ὕδασιν τούτοις, ὅτι καὶ τὰ ὕδατα ταῦτα γόνιμά εἰσιν ἐνώπιόν σου, κύριε. οἴμοι, τίνι ὡμοιώθην ἐγώ; οὐχ ὡμοιώθην ἐγὼ τῇ γῇ ταύτῃ, ὅτι καὶ ἡ γῆ αὕτη προσφέρει τοὺς καρποὺς αὐτῆς κατὰ καιρόν, καὶ σὲ εὐλογεῖ, κύριε. (29548)
