Additions to Esther 11

1In the fourth year of the reign of Ptolemeus and Cleopatra, Dositheus, who said he was a priest and Levite, and Ptolemeus his son, brought this epistle of Phurim, which they said was the same, and that Lysimachus the son of Ptolemeus, that was in Jerusalem, had interpreted it.

ἔτους τετάρτου βασιλεύοντος πτολεμαίου καὶ κλεοπάτρας εἰσήνεγκεν δωσίθεος ὃς ἔφη εἶναι ἱερεὺς καὶ λευίτης καὶ πτολεμαῖος ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ τὴν προκειμένην ἐπιστολὴν τῶν φρουραι ἣν ἔφασαν εἶναι καὶ ἑρμηνευκέναι λυσίμαχον πτολεμαίου τῶν ἐν ιερουσαλημ (22580)

2In the second year of the reign of Artexerxes the great, in the first day of the month Nisan, Mardocheus the son of Jairus, the son of Semei, the son of Cisai, of the tribe of Benjamin, had a dream;

ἔτους δευτέρου βασιλεύοντος ἀρταξέρξου τοῦ μεγάλου τῇ μιᾷ τοῦ νισα ἐνύπνιον εἶδεν μαρδοχαῖος ὁ τοῦ ιαϊρου τοῦ σεμεϊου τοῦ κισαιου ἐκ φυλῆς βενιαμιν (15031)

3Who was a Jew, and dwelt in the city of Susa, a great man, being a servitor in the king’s court.

ἄνθρωπος ιουδαῖος οἰκῶν ἐν σούσοις τῇ πόλει ἄνθρωπος μέγας θεραπεύων ἐν τῇ αὐλῇ τοῦ βασιλέως (10562)

4He was also one of the captives, which Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon carried from Jerusalem with Jechonias king of Judea; and this was his dream:

ἦν δὲ ἐκ τῆς αἰχμαλωσίας ἧς ᾐχμαλώτευσεν ναβουχοδονοσορ ὁ βασιλεὺς βαβυλῶνος ἐξ ιερουσαλημ μετὰ ιεχονιου τοῦ βασιλέως τῆς ιουδαίας (15082)

5Behold a noise of a tumult, with thunder, and earthquakes, and uproar in the land:

καὶ τοῦτο αὐτοῦ τὸ ἐνύπνιον καὶ ἰδοὺ φωναὶ καὶ θόρυβος βρονταὶ καὶ σεισμός τάραχος ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς (9560)

6And, behold, two great dragons came forth ready to fight, and their cry was great.

καὶ ἰδοὺ δύο δράκοντες μεγάλοι ἕτοιμοι προῆλθον ἀμφότεροι παλαίειν καὶ ἐγένετο αὐτῶν φωνὴ μεγάλη (7568)

7And at their cry all nations were prepared to battle, that they might fight against the righteous people.

καὶ τῇ φωνῇ αὐτῶν ἡτοιμάσθη πᾶν ἔθνος εἰς πόλεμον ὥστε πολεμῆσαι δικαίων ἔθνος (7897)

8And lo a day of darkness and obscurity, tribulation and anguish, affliction and great uproar, upon earth.

καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡμέρα σκότους καὶ γνόφου θλῖψις καὶ στενοχωρία κάκωσις καὶ τάραχος μέγας ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς (9796)

9And the whole righteous nation was troubled, fearing their own evils, and were ready to perish.

καὶ ἐταράχθη δίκαιον πᾶν ἔθνος φοβούμενοι τὰ ἑαυτῶν κακὰ καὶ ἡτοιμάσθησαν ἀπολέσθαι καὶ ἐβόησαν πρὸς τὸν θεόν (7506)

10Then they cried unto God, and upon their cry, as it were from a little fountain, was made a great flood, even much water.

ἀπὸ δὲ τῆς βοῆς αὐτῶν ἐγένετο ὡσανεὶ ἀπὸ μικρᾶς πηγῆς ποταμὸς μέγας ὕδωρ πολύ (7718)

11The light and the sun rose up, and the lowly were exalted, and devoured the glorious.

φῶς καὶ ὁ ἥλιος ἀνέτειλεν καὶ οἱ ταπεινοὶ ὑψώθησαν καὶ κατέφαγον τοὺς ἐνδόξους (7990)

12Now when Mardocheus, who had seen this dream, and what God had determined to do, was awake, he bare this dream in mind, and until night by all means was desirous to know it.

καὶ διεγερθεὶς μαρδοχαῖος ὁ ἑωρακὼς τὸ ἐνύπνιον τοῦτο καὶ τί ὁ θεὸς βεβούλευται ποιῆσαι εἶχεν αὐτὸ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ καὶ ἐν παντὶ λόγῳ ἤθελεν ἐπιγνῶναι αὐτὸ ἕως τῆς νυκτός (15808)
