Sinodos: The Apostolic Canons (57 Canons, Fell/Schodde) 1

Presented as canons decreed by the apostles; actual author unknown. The Greek Apostolic Canons, which close the Apostolic Constitutions, are an anonymous Syrian church-law compilation of about AD 380; this is the Ethiopic form, one of the four books of the Ethiopic Sinodos, in 57 canons (Schodde's 1883 translation). Rules for the ordination of bishops, elders, and deacons, the conduct of the clergy, offerings, fasting, church property, and discipline. A church-order text, not scripture in kind: it is part of the Ethiopian Orthodox broader canon (a broader-canon book counted as authoritative for church life).
1Concerning the number of bishops who should take part in the ordination of a bishop. A bishop shall be ordained by two or by three bishops, but an elder and a deacon and the rest that are ordained shall be ordained by one bishop alone.
