New Testament Apocrypha

Gospels, acts, and revelations that never entered the New Testament canon.

The New Testament apocrypha are Christian writings, mostly from the second century onward, that take the forms of the New Testament — gospels, acts, epistles, apocalypses — but were not received into the canon. Some fill in gaps the gospels leave (Jesus' childhood, Mary's parents, the descent into hell between the crucifixion and the resurrection); others carried the teaching of groups the wider church later rejected.

This collection includes the Protevangelium of James, the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Nicodemus (the Acts of Pilate and the Descent into Hell), the Gospel of Peter, the Gospel of Thomas, the Acts of Paul and Thecla, the Apocalypse of Peter, and more.
