extend

Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to favour his fatherless children.

For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.

For this cause we severely threatened them; yet, with the clemency which we usually extend to all men, we at length permitted them to live. And the rule of Reason is likewise proved to extend through the more aggressive passions or vices, ambition, vanity, ostentation, pride, and backbiting.
