chastening

Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.

And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:

If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?

Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

Now I beseech those that read this book, that they be not discouraged for these calamities, but that they judge those punishments not to be for destruction, but for a chastening of our nation.

And though the living Lord be angry with us a little while for our chastening and correction, yet shall he be at one again with his servants.

And if indeed I have sinned, with chastening chastise me, my brethren, but lay not upon me your hand, for the sake of Jacob our father,

The righteous despiseth not the chastening of the Lord; His will is always before the Lord.

For Thou wilt pity the seed of Israel for ever And Thou wilt not reject (them): But we (shall be) under Thy yoke for ever, And (under) the rod of Thy chastening.

For Thou art the God of righteousness, judging Israel with chastening.

He that maketh ready his back for strokes shall be cleansed, For the Lord is good to them that endure chastening.

For He maketh straight the ways of the righteous, And doth not pervert (them) by His chastening.

For terrible is the overthrow of the sinner; But not one of all these things toucheth the righteous. For not alike are the chastening of the righteous (for sins done) in ignorance, And the overthrow of the sinners

For the Lord spareth His pious ones, And blotteth out their errors by His chastening. For the life of the righteous shall be for ever;

Faithful is the Lord to them that love Him in truth, To them that endure His chastening, To them that walk in the righteousness of His commandments, In the law which He commanded us that we might live.

Under the rod of chastening of the Lord's anointed in the fear of his God, In the spirit of wisdom and righteousness and strength;
